Last Park Adventure

Jen and I have had some pretty fun times this year. . . a lot of them being at the park!  In the fall, we would go to the park every single night and get ice cream on the way.  We really missed these events during our L-O-N-G winter, so today, our last day, we decided to make a last trip to the park.  What fun we had!! It was so sunny, but windy (the North Face)!

Jen took this picture and I had no idea she was taking it and she had no idea what she was taking it of because of the sun!  We thought it was a pretty cool picture though!! It kind of looks like I am flying!!!

Same with this one!! Pretty blue sky!! :-) Love summertime!

I love this picture!! Jen and I were going down the slides and she apparently got down before me and was making sure I got down alright!  Such fun times!!

We are goofy and always have a good time!!

Carsten and Anna

Carsten (7) and Anna (5) are two sweet little children that I have babysat all year.  They are such fun kids, filled with energy and ideas!  They get along so well and always (well, most of the time) have fun together!!  Last night was the last time I will babysit them until next year which is kind of sad!!  Anna found my camera in my coat pocket and decided it would be fun to take pictures . . . then Carsten heard the fun and he decided to as well!! I now have many pictures of their cat, the fridge, the family room, etc from him!

Carsten wanted to take this picture of Anna and Anna wanted me in the picture . . . so, here it is!!  Centered and all!!!

Carsten was laying on the couch watching a movie that we recorded because he wasn't feeling up to par.  He left school early on Friday because he got sick and so we took it easy and just hung out!

Anna and I were upstairs picking out a book to read when she said, "Julia, I really, really like your hair.  {long pause} Can you do mine like yours please?"  So I did!! Her hair is so fine and soft, it was rather hard, but I made it look as best as I could!! Good thing I am not going to school to be a hair dresser ;-)

And then . . . while Carsten was finishing his "scary" movie, Anna wanted me to paint her fingernails to look like mine!!  The movie was not scary at all, but Anna wanted to play instead, so she kept saying she was toooooo scared!!! Funny!!

I will miss them over the summer, but have had such a good time babysitting them all year!!

Cupcake Disaster

Here is the finished cupcakes of my night of disasters!  Today was my last day ( :-( ) in my class and so I thought it would be a nice touch to bring in a little treat for my students.  In my mind, cupcakes are easy and can be made cute, so that is what I decide to do.  In my practicum class, there are 25 students plus the teacher, so I needed 26 cupcakes.  I bought one box of Funfetti cake mix and frosting and go to make these things.  Well, I need another box now because the serving size is only 24 . . . back to Kroger I go! I get another box and start making the cupcakes at Jens apt because our ovens stink here! I get over there and start to make the cupcakes fairly large because I have enough for 48!  Well, the first 12 are a bust and are black on top and VERY undercooked in the middle ...  I threw them right in the trash!! So, the next 12 are looking good!! Phew!! The next 8 were looking great {poet and didnt even know it!} until I got to fill #9-12... they were about 1/2 the size of the other ones!! Now I have 20 good ones and 4 small ones... STILL 2 SHORT with no more batter!! I am soooo irritated at this point that I about throw them ALL away and go buy a bag of oreos!!  I go to observe the stars for one of my classes and then force myself BACK to Kroger to get, yet another, box of Funfetti cake mix!  It is now 10pm and thank the LORD, they worked out!!  I now went from 6 short to 26 good ones and 19 extras!!  Jen and I frost them and then decorate them with Kissables to give them a little extra touch! They didnt turn out as cute as I had hoped, but at 1am . . . they were looking GREAT!! Anyways . . .  I took them in today and the kids LOVED them!! It was so funny to see the different manners the kids had!! 2 kids did a dance for me and sang. . . some hugged me  . . . most yelled Thank You . . . but they all are SO CUTE!

I  will miss them - - - but. . . I must admit that I am going back tomorrow!! They have been working on a Social Studies drama for a while and they are presenting it many times tomorrow and they asked me to come, so of course I am!!

Order in the Court

In my practicum classroom, the class was reading Summer of the Monkeys and it said, "Monkeys are as smart as people."  Well my class just didnt know how they felt about that. . . so, I had them do a court room and had students debate if monkeys were as smart as people!  It was so fun! The kids loved it!!  Luke {picture 1} was the judge in our courtroom and did an EXCELLENT job!! I had written out the order for the court and he did so well!!  I brought in a gavel and robe for him and he was into his role!

Here is the class getting ready to start the debate.  We went to the team center and got it all set up and the jury, judge, pro side, con side and gallery all ready to roar!  The kids were so excited about this experience!

This is Jaide giving her first piece of support for why monkeys are as smart as people.  They came all prepared with questions, support, research, etc and did so well presenting their information.

In case you were wondering. . . according to Mrs. McBarnes 5th grade classroom - - - Monkeys are NOT as smart as people (Con side won)!!

College

So, on Saturday night- - - my friend Jen and I were pretty bored!! There isnt a WHOLE lot happening on campus the last few weekends, so we were just going over to a friends apartment to watch movies and hang out.  But, he got out of late work . . . so while we were waiting, we got all ready!! We did have a lot of fun though!!

And she got me all dressed up and ready to go . . . NO WHERE!! At least we know its possible!

Then we took some pretty crazy pictures!! Makes us look even cuter ;-)

And she needed her back cracked. . . I didnt want to, but she made me and then I wanted support from the umbrella. . . so really I look like a grandma!!

Oh the fun times we have!!! :-)

Practicum

This semester, as you have seen, I was in a 5th grade classroom that I LOVED!!  It was such a great experience for me that is going to be very applicable in my student teaching!  I loved all the students and the teacher was great!  The kids are old enough to be independent, but still need and like their teacher.  They are a great age!  I made these flower pens for my teacher as a 'Thank- You' for helping me and teaching me all semester.  So fun, I am sad to see it end!!

I was supposed to do 24 hours and 3 lessons. . . I have done 55 hours and 5 lessons!!
